Cycling
If you’re into road biking, you’re going to love all the bike paths around here. But if mountain biking is more your thing, check out the Aveto Regional Park for some gnarlier trails (it’s about an hour away from Stella del Mare). If you’re short on ideas, take a peek here (Italian only).
P.S. You can rent a city bike right at the hotel and maybe ride all the way to the town of Sestri Levante – just 8km away from Chiavari.
Hiking
The area around Chiavari is perfect for walks, whether you’re into leisurely strolls or longer, more challenging hikes. These are our Top 3:
- GIRO DELLE 5 TORRI
The name (Tour of the 5 towers) comes from the four bell towers and the medieval tower you’ll see along the route. The trail mainly follows the ridge, crossing through the nearby area of Leivi. - ANELLO DELLE GRAZIE
Collina delle Grazie hill provides stunning views of the Gulf of Tigullio, the sea, and the cliffs. From the seafront, after passing the Fara tower, you’ll reach Corso Buenos Aires. The starting point is located at the bend above the tunnel. - MT TELEGRAFO
The trail ascends to the summit of Mt Cucco, where the Napoleonic telegraph station was located, and continues on to the villages of Campodonico and Maxena. Along the way, you’ll encounter a mix of old stone paths, forests, and stunning viewpoints.
Water sports
We’re only 200m from the sea, so why not make the most of it? In Chiavari, you can enjoy a wide range of water sports, including canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), snorkelling, and swimming. The Outdoor Portofino company, in Paraggi, guarantees extraordinary outdoor adventures, such as sunset kayaking and plenty of other WOW experiences.
Boat rental
You can also rent a boat and venture out to some of the most beautiful beaches along the Ligurian coast or maybe find a quiet bay and enjoy the sun in total tranquillity.
