Stella del Mare: past and present
All the best stories start with “Once upon a time …” and ours is no different.
Once upon a time, back in December of 1975, a sweet couple from Italy’s Liguria region decided to acquire the licences for what had previously been a youth hostel. This couple was Nonna Lina and Nonno Giovanni, our grandparents, who had an eye for opportunities even back then. They decided to renovate the property and add an ensuite bathroom to each room, creating Hotel Stella del Mare. 1999 marked the arrival of the second generation, led by Anna and Aldo, who brought a breath of fresh air (both figuratively and literally with the new air conditioning system) and introduced new approaches in management and marketing.
In 2014, a major flood destroyed two floors of the hotel. It was a challenging period for the Pessagno family, but they decided to roll up their sleeves and keep going. This is where the third generation stepped in as well: Agnese, Gregorio, and Ruggero. Their warmth and enthusiasm shines through as they keep the hotel modern and up-to-date, always putting each guest’s comfort at the forefront.
We have great things planned for our 50th anniversary. We’re really excited and can’t wait to show you what we’ve been busy working on. Stay tuned!
